Video Review

without comments

Its the holidays!! I’m laying back and watching a few good movies. I borrowed this video from the library. Its a must see for any immigrant coming into the US. I did not realise that there were many folks who were opposed to the concept! I still remember looking out the aircraft trying to see if I could catch a glimpse of lady :)

blogs->moblogs->audio blogs->link blogs?

with 6 comments

Blogs continue to evolve as time progresses, each with a different twist. The latest addition to the list is link blogs.

Well, what are link blogs?

Link blogs, like the name suggests is a blog with only links, typically links that someone daily browses.

Examples of link blogs

Why does this classification help?

Blogs in general are an useful medium to converse & express ones thoughts and its also a place holder to point to things of interest. However,  separating the content and link blogs, gives better focus to each category. For example, In the last few days cuz of my busy schedule, I have tended to point to interesting pieces of information that I come across rather than my usual penning of my thoughts.

Tools support for creating link blogs?

<Need more info> Wonder how Erik posts his links. The alternative to having a link blog is to just post a bunch of quick links under a links category. I have especially seen folks like Leslie’s quick links . As more link blogs spring up, one is bound to have duplicate links reported to different bloggers, wonder if RSS agrregator authors are taking this into consideration?

How to create a link blog in roller?

<Need more info> Havent really thought about this.

I link the idea of posting my links seperately as this is one thing that my brother has pestered me for years & have been blamed for a long time for not emailing him the interesting links. Setting up a link blog would be one way of getting him off my back ;)

These days “abstraction” seems to be mantra!

with 2 comments

CNN has published their 2003 global influentials and 2 indians figure in this list! I had not heard about the other tata mentioned in this list. I guess its only a matter of time before it becomes common to see an Indian at the helms of a global conglomerate!

Amazon Web services

without comments

Amazon Web service developers seem to be pretty excited about the oppurtunity of letting amazon be the silent partnet in the background while customer use their web site(front end). Meaning you could come to blogforthought.com and buy books here and not know/realise that amazon is the one actually selling the book! Aparently  NBA store (http://store.nba.com) does it already! Hmm, thats interesting! Now the question is whether these sites can mark up the prices and make more money out of it. One is bound to find innocent buyers who can be fooled. More on this <here>

T-Mobile Rocks

without comments

First, I realised a new feature of my T-mobile service when some sent a FAX to my phone by mistake! Recieved a text message on my phone indication a new FAX message and I called my voice mail and I was able to redirect the FAX to the number my choice! Now how cool is that ;) Didnt even realise that I had a mobile fax number with me all the time!

Secondly, I got a mail from T-mobile letting me know that my T-zones service is unlimited for $2.99 a month! Freaking awesome! Its just keeps getting better! Now if only I can get T-mobile to give a credit to get one those Nokia 3650 babies .. *droll* ;)

Instant UML Diagrams for Java Code

with 5 comments

I ran into CodeLogic when I surfing was something else. As I needed to generate Class Diagrams/Sequence diagrams for the project Id just finished up. Im passing this onto someone to who is rather new to Enterprise Java development. I just had to take a few mins to generate class diagrams, sequence diagrams and flow diagrams. A few mins of effort and it really pays off! The best part of the product is that it allows u to drill down to a certain function call/class and then generate the sequence diagrams/flow diagrams. Especially useful when u need to look @ a new system and get a 50,000 feet overview.

The Cons of the system are: Only a 10 min max run time! This is a really irritation feature, it does not even give enough time for the developer to finish up what he/she is doing! The UI is kinda rudimentary (AWT) & its a 14 day license.

I wish this company follows the Altassian model and writes a web app to let folks understand open source code. Would be a kick ass model to market their software! Its 299$ per user license.

It does a better job that Rational Freaking Rose! *Period*
